A Pop Icon of Animation

As Matteo Pavesi, Director of Cineteca Milano and exhibition curator, explains:

“Bruno Bozzetto is a true pop artist. Since the 1960s, he has challenged social norms with sharp irony, anticipating cultural trends and transforming them into animation. He explored cinematic genres before postmodernism, pioneered educational animation, and created timeless characters like Mr. Rossi, The Cavallino Michele, and Johnny il Bassotto—beloved by children and treasured by collectors today. His work is deeply tied to environmental awareness, portraying animals and nature as key figures in preserving our planet. Bozzetto is constantly evolving, just like his art, making him one of the most innovative voices in Italian pop culture.”

This exhibition, created in collaboration with Cineteca Milano MIC, Anita and Irene Bozzetto, celebrates Bozzetto’s legacy with a fresh, immersive, and interactive experience—where visitors can watch, listen, sing, and relive the magic of his animated world.
